HID Spare Parts.

A HID Conversion Kit replaces your standard halogen bulbs with High Intensity Discharge Bulbs. HID Kits comprise of HID Bulbs and HID Ballasts. In the case of single beam bulbs, they plug directly into your existing headlight connector whereas in the case of High/Low bulbs, the kits come with relay harnesses to switch form low to high beam.
HID Bulbs are driven by HID Ballasts that convert your vehicles 12v or 24v system into a discharge of 23,000 Volts.
HID Bulbs have a different wattage and a HID Colour Temperature from between 3000k to 30,000k, (have a look at the HID Bulb Colour Chart). The best colour temperature for HID Bulbs is between 4000k and 6500k, which is warm white to cool white. You can interchange some bulbs and ballasts with higher wattage or lower wattage bulbs and ballasts but it can reduce the life of the bulb, or change the colour temperature of the HID Bulbs. The pressure cylinders’ in HID bulbs generally get bigger as the wattage goes up, so although you can run a 35w bulb off a 55w ballast, if you tried to run a 35w bulb off a 100w ballast it would blow up.
HID Ballasts come in 35w, 55w, 70w, and 100w. I have seen suppliers selling 120w and 150w ballasts, but to date, they are fake, and will be only 70w or 100w, so buyer beware. Most after-market hid ballasts have standard input and output plugs so you can easily interchange them. We also have a range of specific after-market OEM HID Ballasts at a quarter of the price if you purchased them from the dealer.

You can upgrade halogen driving lights and spot lights to HID if you know what bulb is in it. You can generally take the bulb out and look at the part number. For cars, trucks, and motorcycles, have a look in your owner’s manual, call the dealer with your VIN number, or have a look at the Bulb Application Guide on the Narva site or OSRAM site to see if you can find a listing for you vehicle. The general range of available HID Bulbs are H1, H3, H4 H/L, H7, H9, H11, H13 H/L, H15, H16, HB1 9004, HB2 9003 (H4 H/L), HB4 9006, HB5 9007 H/L, 9012, 5202, 880 and 881 series.
You can also buy a H4 H/L HID Relay Harness if you need to replace a faulty one, and you can find a lot of accessories like HID Headlight Bulb Adapters in our HID Spare Parts section of the store. One other thing you might want to look at is the section for the different Wiring Diagrams for HID Conversion Kits and Driving Lights, They are generally fairly straight forward, but if you have purchased a kit without a wiring diagram, or you have inherited a hand-me-down kit, or doing repairs, this section can be very helpful for negative switching systems or just to get your head around how they work.

HID Ballasts.

Fast Start HID Ballasts are one of the latest technologies. A fast start ballast draws more current on start-up which allows the bulbs to reach full brightness within a few seconds.
The advantages of fast start ballasts are when you switch from high beam to low beam, and then from low beam back up to high beam, with fast ballasts you don't get a long delay to full brightness which is more beneficial when driving on roads in dark country areas and you need to get the lights super bright, super-fast.

Can-Bus HID Ballasts are used in vehicles which have a lighting system that comes on automatically. The vehicles computer controls when to turn the lights on or off, and in some cases on high end vehicles, sense when you go through a dark tunnel and switch the lights on automatically. Can-Bus means "Controller Area Network", and in the context of how they work in vehicles, the simple explanation is that they mimic the resistance found in the filament of a halogen bulb, which the computer can read, and therefore control switch the lights on or off automatically. So, if your converting bulbs from halogen to HID and your lights come on automatically, you will need to get a kit with Can-Bus Ballasts.

OEM HID Ballasts directly replace faulty ballasts found in vehicles that come originally with HID systems. We have a range of after-market replacement ballasts for Mercedes, BMW, VW, Subaru, and Toyota, Nissan, and Lexus. You will need to get the part number off the ballast and send it to us, if you cannot see the ballast you are looking for contact us for more information, if we don't have the ballast you are looking for in stock, we can usually get them in for you withing a week.

Can-Bus Decoders, Error Cancelers, and Resistors.

Can-Bus Decoders, or Can-Bus Error Cancelers, are available for LED and HID Lights. You can get them with original connectors, such as H4 or H7, and they are used for vehicles where the computer controls your lights, such as when you get into the car and turn your ignition on and the lights come on automatically.
Other systems that benefit from can-bus decoders and 25W or 50W resistors are vehicles where they need a "load" to function correctly, call us for more information or email us.

HID Bulb Extender Cables

Sometimes with Driving Lights, Motorcycle HID Kits, and car and truck HID kits, you may want to lengthen the distance from the bulb to the ballast, or from the output of the vehicles OEM headlight connector to the input of the ballast. You can do this by using HID Bulb Extenders. The extenders are 1mtr long and give you extra play if you want to mount the bulb further away than usual. The normal cables on bulbs are around 600mm.The have single water-proof connectors that plug directly into HID Bulbs.

In the same way with bulb extenders, ballast extenders allow you to mount the ballast further away. They have universal 2 pin connectors that plug directly into the ballast.

Relay Harnesses for Driving Lights, Spot Lights, and LED Light Bars

The main two relay harnesses we have are a single connector for light bars, and a dual connector for driving lights.
The single harness has a relay and cable for one light, the dual harness is for two lights.
You can interchange them for two light bars for example, and they are suitable for low powered or high powered applications.

H4 H/L Relay Harness for HID Kits

The relay harnesses with the H4 H/L plug are available in single or a dual,
The single are for applications such as motorcycles, where you have only one H4 bulb to connect, or the dual harness for vehicles where you have two nh4 bulbs.
You can however use two single h4 relays for cars as well. Some prefer to use single H4 plugs on either side of the vehicle.

Connectors

We have a range of single pin, and double pin connector kits for hid bulbs and ballasts, and the Deutsch style connectors for light-bars and other applications.
The single round waterproof plugs are used for HID bulbs, and the 2 pin waterproof plugs are use for hid ballast inputs.
The 2pin waterproof plugs can also be used for driving lights and light bars.

Headlight Bulb Adapters for HID and LED Kits

Because there are a lot of different led and hid bulb adapters, it is best to check your vehicles headlight housing to see if your bulb is held in by a normal metal spring retainer, or whether the bulb fits into and adapter first, and then is set into the headlight bulb housing. You can take photos of the bulb adapter if you need to and send it to us before you buy your kit and if we have the adapters we will send them out free of charge with your kit for you.
